A limousine (or limo) is an unusually long luxury car, traditionally black or white in color (other colors, however, have also been used for limousines, such as pink, magenta, or blue). Limousines are most commonly driven by chauffeurs and are often associated with the wealthy.
While some limousines are owned by individuals, many are owned by governments to transport senior politicians, by large companies to transport executives, or by broadcasters to transport guests. Most limousines, however, operate as livery vehicles, providing upmarket competition to taxicabs.
The word limousine is derived from the name of the French region Limousin, and is associated with the long cloaks once worn by the shepherds there.

Smilemuch replied: "I don't know whether it will be a little cheaper in the York area, but we hired one from in Surrey and travelled to London (about 40 miles each way and coming back around 4am) and it was £280. When you split it between 7 of us, it was worth it.

The best way to compare prices, I find, is to find the email address of about 30 different companies, put it in to the BCC area of an email then email them all at once. The BCC means that they don't know you are emailing 29 other companies"
